If the steam enters the steam trap before the condensate, a steam lock will occur. In this case, the needle valve on the SK-51 SLR should be used to provide a “bypass” to the steam so that a small amount of steam flows out of the trap to drain the condensate. In addition to being discharged by the float ball, the thermostatic sac in the valve body can also vent air. Therefore, water hammer due to air deposition in the duct can be prevented. In addition, if the float fails, the thermostatic sac can be used instead of condensate to prevent system stagnation.
